two man grading and drainage outfit out of macon, me and my nephew. french drains, driveway prep, culvert sets, small pad work, the kind of jobs the big guys will not roll a truck out for. my old skid steer was a 2014 wheeled machine with 2,900 hours that had started eating a few hundred dollars every month in something new. drive motor seal, then a fan hub, then a lift cylinder, then the loader arm bushings. the day it went down on a job with a pipe crew standing around waiting on me i decided i was done.
i wanted a T76 because everybody running drainage in georgia clay wants tracks and the R-series cab is the first bobcat cab i could sit in all day. the georgia dealers were showing me 2021 and 2022 T76s with 300 to 600 hours in the 70 to 72 range. a guy on a pipe crew told me to check rubiautosales.com because his brother in law bought a mini ex there. they had a 2022 T76 Platinum R-Series, about 217 hours, high flow, 2 speed, enclosed cab with heat and ac, 7 pin, on 18 inch tracks, listed at about 58. that is 12 to 14 under the dealers for a lower hour machine and i figured something had to be wrong with it.
called. the guy told me straight the right track was worn more than the left, one loader arm zerk was snapped off, and the cab door latch was sticky. then he sent a pile of photos of the undercarriage and a video of the display cycling through the hour meter and the fault menu.
i was not wiring 58 grand on photos so i hired an independent heavy equipment mechanic, about 400, to go put hands on it. rubi let him have the machine for the whole morning. he checked hydraulic pressures on the aux circuit with his own gauge, pulled the fault code history off the display, measured track and sprocket wear, checked every loader arm pin for play, and filmed a cold start. his list: right track about 60 percent, the snapped zerk, the sticky latch, a small hydraulic weep at one of the flat face quick couplers, and no stored fault codes. that was it.
bought it. paperwork was a bill of sale plus the serial number title docs, all clean, and a lowboy hauler brought it to macon for about 900.
anybody else in here running a machine off the rubi lot? curious how yours turned out.
